Public
Health Services
Most public health services in Australia such as hospitals and community
health centres are run by State government health departments.
Services are usually further organised into local regions
or groups.
The Commonwealth department administers national policy and programs such as
general practice; and payment systems such as Medicare and the
Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
Individual sites for public health services can
change frequently, so the quickest way to find current
sites is go to the relevant department's home page.
Search tip: State and Commonwealth departmental
websites also provide a range of general public health information
and links to other health websites. |
