Description
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory disease which can affect blood vessels, kidneys, the skin and nervous system.
The cause of SLE is not known: viral infection and  immune reactions have been suggested.  Lupus-like symptoms may also be caused by adverse reactions to medicines and chemicals.  More women than men suffer from SLE.
