Description
Feeling sad and despairing is a normal reaction to a sad event and mostly passes. In clinical depression however, the effects are protracted, with the person feeling consumed by their sadness for more days than not, and perceiving their situation in an overwhelmingly negative way. The symptoms of this level of depression are characteristic, with changes in mood, thoughts, motivation, perception and physical appearance. Professional help is essential. Recent Australian Bureau of Statistics figures indicate that clinical depression affects about … of Australians over 18 years of age.
