Description
Genetic disorder affecting exocrine glands (which secrete body fluids such as
sweat, mucus and enzymes). Mucus in the vessels and ducts becomes unusually thick and
impairs the normal function organs that these glands serve. Severely affects lungs,
pancreas and liver. 1 in 25 Australians are symptomless carriers of the gene, and about 1
in 2000 Australian births have the disorder. |
