Description
Australia has a large number of people of non-English speaking background
(NESB). The experience of migration (especially for refugees of war), language
barriers and cultural background can influence their health and their engagement with
health services. The influence of language and
culture is reflected in more recent description of these communities as
comprising people of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD)
backgrounds.
