Directors:
Tony Wade RN. BA M.Admin.
Director of Projects
After graduating as a registered nurse in 1976, Tony
practised in mental health services in New Zealand and Australia, specialising in
social and psychotherapy programs. Following positions up to the level of Director of Nursing, he was
appointed an Executive Director with a major private hospital group. In 1990 Tony
established what is now Australia's Health Pty Ltd.
Tony provides consultancy
and research in strategic planning and review of health systems and
services. His clients include local, state and national
consumer, professional, industry and government
organisations.
Tony
also has extensive experience
as an advocate and
researcher in health issues from a consumer and
carer perspective. He is a regular participant
in multi-stakeholder research projects and teams with
leading Australian and international researchers.
Tony has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Flinders University and a
Masters Degree in Administration from Griffith University.
He holds honorary appointment as a Clinical Senior
Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Queensland. Tony is an
Associate Fellow of the
Australian College of Health Service Executives and a
member of the Australian Institute of Public
Administration.

Derek
Weir RN. BA. BSc. MSc. PhD.
Director of Research
Derek has a wide understanding of contemporary issues in
health services, with over twenty years experience in the sector. His commitment to
quality clinical, teaching and research activity extends to both professionals and
consumers of those services.
With degrees in psychology, biology
and psychiatry, Derek has considerable clinical and research experience in the biological
and psychological aspects of illness and the evaluation of therapies. He has conducted
many workshops and awareness sessions, for consumers and health professionals alike, on
the promotion and maintenance of health, and has published in both areas. He is skilled in
research design and analysis, and provides support to a range of groups and projects in
applied and theoretical research.
As a lecturer and senior lecturer in health sciences at Queensland
University of Technology for ten years, Derek gained extensive experience in undergraduate
and postgraduate curriculum development, teaching and supervision.
